Singapore Public Utilities Board (PUB) has made it mandatory for contractors to install silty water treatment system at construction sites as part of Earth Control Measures (ECM) requirements in Code of Practice on Surface Water Drainage.

"The discharge from any construction/earthwork sites into storm water drainage system shall not contain Total Suspended Solids (TSS) in concentrations greater than, the prescribed limits under Regulation 4(1) of the Sewage and Drainage (Surface Water Drainage) Regulations."
